I have always been fascinated with the stories sewn into quilts. How patterns and colors chronicle history, culture, traditions and reflect the lives of those that create them.
I attempted quilting many years ago and thought it best to leave the wonderful fabrics in the hands of the true artists.
My sisters, Bridget and Cathy, avid quilters, inspired me to
revisit quilting. . . . . . . but on paper this time.
This design was inspired by the art of quilting.

i haven't tried quilting.. have always wanted to learn.
MY sewing skills though are not very good! ;)
I sew, but not to the extent of an entire quilt. The two small quilts I made many years ago were simple squares and then tuffed. I am always in awe how a quilter can match colors and create such wonderful designs. Like a work of art!
very cute card! :)
I can't seem to get on with quilting although both my mother and a very good friend love it. It's great that you found inspiration in it and were able to put your own take on it.
Thanks for commenting on my blog! :)
I was interested to read your post about quilting, I am just getting into quilting. I have finished one block, and am going to a quilt block of the month club, so it's going to take a little over a year to finish one quilt! :)
I think its just as nice as a traditional quilt. Great idea!
Thank you for the lovely comments.
I have so many more ideas for these quilt cards, there just isn't enough hours in the day.
I actually have a quilt just like this that Bridget made. I got it at the first DeSpain Christmas party that I attended in 2008. I will always cherish it.
